Hundreds came out at dawn on September 6 to Riverside Park in Vero Beach to run and walk in the Tunnel 2 Towers 5K, many wearing full firefighter gear. The event commemorates and honors those who died saving others on September 11, 2001. I was there to run with the Vero Beach Volunteer Fire Department team (incidentally we won the trophy for largest team!) and while there I saw my new friends from IRC Sheriff's Office! There are about 37 photos in the slideshow below so be sure to view on a regular computer (all the photos don't always load on a phone, unless yours is REALLY, REALLY SMART!). Proceeds benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which honors the sacrifice firefighter Stephen Siller made when he laid down his life to save others on 911. His brother George was at Riverside Park to give the opening speech. Joining him was Battalion Chief Jack Oehm from Brooklyn's Red Hook station, who also served in 911.
